I was introduced to a womenswear line by New York designer Dana Maxx a few weeks ago. I instantly loved the spring collection and quickly started planning how I would want to shoot the clothes with David. My first instincts were to shoot in Homestead because it was Memorial Day weekend and Miami gets crazy with tourists. Homestead is quiet and beautiful, so I usually like to shoot there when I have a lot of looks, or when we want to really take our time. It’s a totally different scene compared to shooting street style on Ocean Drive. If you haven’t been out to the orchid green houses in Homestead you are seriously missing out. It’s insane how many varieties of orchids are on sale and just how cheap they are all priced. Plus, from Miami Beach it’s a short 45 minute drive.
Now onto Dana Maxx….I really dig how distinctly Florida the garments feel to me. The collection’s vibrant colors with simple lines and construction remind me of my Mom’s style and her chic friends in Naples, Fl. I like cool, confident and well made clothes.
The floral print pants are my faves, so I had to pair them with my favorite crop top to form a super outfit. If I could wear it over and over, I definitely would. You all know I have no problem with repeating pieces – just never the same way. I have two more Dana Maxx looks coming out this week. Stay tuned. xx
