David and I shot these on Sunday morning at Jimbo’s Place on Virginia key in Miami. The “smoked fish house” is a really popular spot for photographers and film crews and was shot on location in Ace Ventura, True Lies, Miami Vice, Wild Things, CSI Miami and others. The 1980 horror film Island Claws filmed at Jimbo’s and built shacks that are still there. I say “smoked fish house” because when I was there, I didn’t see any fish, and I got the feeling its more of “sometimes there is some fish and you can buy it” kind of place.
David brought me to Jimbo’s on Saturday to check out the location and pick out some scenes. It was the most random group of people listening to music, drinking $2 beer and playing bocce ball. There is also yellow school bus that is home to about 30 cats. Jimbo’s is definitely something to see if your ever in Miami.
Going back to Jimbo’s on Sunday morning to shoot, we got there at about 6:30 am. Jimbo’s son was still awake and graciously gave me bug spray for the swarming pests everywhere near the water. He told David that Dan Marino was there the night before…..
On another note, lets talk about the dress. Oh my gaw I love it SO HARD. It’s by my current obsession, Miami-based designer brand Alexis. I actually got the chance to meet the mother-daughter team last Friday for an interview at their incredible showroom and warehouse. I’m writing the article today, so lookout for that tomorrow, along with more pics from Jimbo’s. xx
